Are shopping malls still open in Dubai during Ramadan?

Yes, shopping malls in Dubai remain open during Ramadan, but their operating hours are adjusted to suit the holy month. Rather than closing during the day, malls typically open later in the morning and stay open much later at night.

Most major malls open around 10 AM and close around midnight on weekdays, extending to 1 AM on weekends. Others, such as Dubai Hills Mall, usually close at midnight, while BurJuman Centre tends to finish slightly earlier at 11 PM.

Footfall is generally quieter during the day and picks up late in the evening, particularly after Iftar, when many residents and visitors head out to shop and socialise.

It’s always worth checking a mall’s official website or social media channels for the latest Ramadan timings before planning a visit.

There are plenty of shopping promotions and offers during Ramadan, so keep an eye out for them.

Are nightclubs open in Dubai during Ramadan?

Nightclubs in Dubai remain open to a limited extent during Ramadan, though the atmosphere is noticeably more subdued. In recent years, restrictions have eased and some venues, particularly those within hotels, continue to operate, often opening after sunset.

While the days of a complete nightlife shutdown are largely over, most clubs still scale back their entertainment during Ramadan. Loud music, live DJs and dancing may be toned down or paused altogether to maintain a respectful ambience.

Operations and alcohol service typically begin after sunset, in line with local customs and licensing rules.

Yes, restaurants in Dubai remain open during Ramadan and continue to serve both residents and visitors. In recent years, rules have relaxed considerably, and most restaurants, cafes, and food courts now operate throughout the day without the need for screening or curtains.

Many dining spots in malls such as Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates stay open from morning until late at night, often extending their hours after Iftar. This makes it easy for visitors to find food at any time of day, whether for breakfast, lunch, or a late-night meal.

While it’s perfectly acceptable for non-fasting visitors to eat during the day, it’s still respectful to be discreet about eating, drinking, or smoking in public.

Yes, tourist activities in Dubai are still running during Ramadan, but many operate with adjusted hours or routines. Major attractions, cultural experiences and tours remain open. According to the city’s official tourism website, you can expect late night shopping, cultural experiences and dining during Ramadan.

Some venues may open later in the day, close earlier than usual, or reduce entertainment elements, so it is best to check timings in advance and plan accordingly.

Is it cheaper to visit Dubai during Ramadan?

Yes. visiting Dubai during Ramadan can often be cheaper than during peak tourist seasons. Because it is considered an off-peak period for many travellers, hotels, tours, and attractions frequently offer discounts, deals, and promotions to attract visitors. For example, some luxury accommodations advertise markdowns of up to 30 – 35 percent during Ramadan.

Tourist accounts confirm that many activities, accommodation, and dining options become more affordable during Ramadan.

Also, guides note that you can “pick up great deals on flights, hotels, tickets, and even food” because it is not a peak season in the UAE.

That said, the savings depend on how restrictive the local Ramadan rules are and how open businesses choose to be. Some attractions may run reduced hours, and fewer entertainment options may operate, which could limit what you can do.

Where to stay in Dubai during Ramadan?

During Ramadan, some of the best areas to stay in Dubai are those that remain lively after sunset. Downtown Dubai is ideal for evening activities, with Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa close by, and nightly fountain shows that continue throughout the holy month.

Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Beach Residence also stay active in the evenings, offering waterfront walks and Ramadan events such as “Ramadan Nights at JBR”.

For a more traditional experience, Deira and Bur Dubai come alive with Ramadan decorations, cultural programmes and the popular Ramadan Souq at Deira’s Grand Souq. Nearby, Al Seef and the Creek area host food stalls, family activities and cultural displays, providing a glimpse into the city’s heritage.

If you prefer a quieter base that is still central and well connected, Business Bay and Al Barsha are good choices, offering easy access to the Metro and short travel times to Dubai’s main attractions.
